Fraser Plane – Glasgow Airport

No Comments 29 August 2009

My son Fraser’s most favourite thing is to watch the planes land at Glasgow Airport, every so often we go out and watch them land. These days we are much more smart about it, I check the Glasgow Airport Arrivals and also have it on my iPhone, so we can check if planes are getting delayed etc. Also the time of day is all important, good times seem to be from 12:30 to 14:30 and after 18:00 but gets dark going in to winter, besides it would be too cold to stand around watching planes land. I decided today I would try and get a photo of a plane going over Fraser’s head and here is the result.

If you want to watch the planes landing at Glasgow Airport you can find the place we go on the map below. It’s a small car park off the Greenock Road (A8) and I think it was made by the local council as it has a few wooden benches and bins so they expect people to come and park here and watch the planes.

Can Claned Clarke

No Comments 25 August 2009

So I am looking at Twitter today and up pops a message from my good friends at Loquax (it’s like UK Competitions only spelt funny) saying “I am part of the worlds largest cancan. Find out about the IRN-BRU Clan and a free music event at www.irnbrucanclan.com“. So I click on the link see what it’s all about, Can Clan from Scotlands National Drink Irn-Bru, must be worth a look. Fun site, music playing, loads of Can Clan members taking the p**s out of Scots as is our way and I think, wonder what Jason & Jude’s from Loquax looks like.. so head to the back of the Can Clan and find this.

Yes the cheeky t**ts have gone and made a Clarke Can Clan member complete with a sheep. I Twittered them back and I am awaiting the reply along the lines of “oh, now you say, it looks a little like you” if this is what my friends do to me in their spare time I am pretty glad I only have a handful of enemy’s ;-)

Anyway funny site, I will make my own Bruzer as I might win a special Irn Bru Tarten Kilt, how cool would that be!

Boycott Scotland Tweets using Libya URL

No Comments 24 August 2009

I can’t be the only Domainer (person who buys and sells domains) in Scotland or indeed in the world who didn’t raise a smile last few days at the anti-Scotland and anti-Libya Tweets sent with a link to read more using a Libya based URL, yes that’s right muppets if your going to post this kind of thing then might not be the brightest idea to post using bit.ly or ow.ly domains, note that these 2 fine companies at not Libyan but use URLs end in .ly and that is the Libya domain space.

Now I have to make something clear, Abdel Baset al Megrahi released by Kenny MacAskill is not anything to do with every day Scots, to be honest most of us couldn’t give a crap as anyone with half a brain will know 1 guy didn’t bomb the plane so we have all been stitched up like kippers. Why is no one interested in finding out the people and country behind this, or is it that they know and politically it doesn’t suit the UK or USA??? Scots have enough normal every day problems to worry about than this International jiggery pokery.

Knockhill Racing with Team Sunshine.co.uk

No Comments 17 August 2009

On Sunday I was invited along to the British Touring Car Championship at Knockhill Racing Circuit by Chris Brown to see his Team Sunshine.co.uk race. Chris Brown for folk don’t know him is a part owner of the holiday firm Sunshine.co.uk that started after he famously sold the Affiliate site HolidayWatchdog.com with fellow Sunshine.co.uk owner and affiliate Chris Clarkson.

I had a wicked day out at Knockhill, brought my camera along to try a bit of car action shots, and Chris even gave me a free lesson on how to take a photo that has the car in focus and the background blurred. I really need to spend more time on the other side of the dial on my Canon 40D and less in Photoshop to get these kind of effects ;-)

It was really interesting what goes on behind the scene, the crazy amount of work between each race to get the car ready and just how many people that takes. And the tyres, think they cost about £160 each and they burn almost a full set per race and they have 3 races per meeting, so no more complaints about me buying a new set once every 2 years ;-)

Everyone on the team was really nice, you could feel the passion they had for the team, was also interesting to see the amount of fans stopping by for the meet and greets, indeed I had to laugh at a few of the dads coming up and saying there 3/4 year old really wanted to meet them when clearly it was just an excuse for them to hide there star struck excitement LOL ;-) Another nice touch was the drivers gave out Sunshine.co.uk bags to everyone that visited the stand and kids that stopped by for autographs even got a free Sunshine.co.uk cap, these are very good high quality stitched caps, so had to blagged one for myself ;-)

Thanks for the invite guys and good luck with the rest of the racing season, maybe a couple more Podiums :-)
